The judges had their hands full with the remarkable stories presented this year. Across four categories, 23 businesses shared their journeys—the highs and lows, wins and losses, future plans and business goals. The judges acknowledged the outstanding quality of the entries and applauded all participants for their efforts.
The Fonterra People's Choice Awards garnered an overwhelming response, with 325 nominations. After careful consideration, a handful of finalists from three towns emerged, receiving a total of 2,490 public votes. Congratulations to the winners: Wheelie Bin Services, The Old Forge Kitchen, and Subway Morrinsville.
In addition to honouring businesses, we took a moment to recognise the contributions of Andrea and Kevin Deane, longstanding members of the Morrinsville Business Community for over two decades. Their active involvement in community initiatives, whether through Rotary or sponsoring local events, earned them the well-deserved Contribution to Community award.
Our guest speaker, Dr. Michelle Dickinson, shared insights from her career in engineering nanotechnology solutions and one key takeaway was challenging the perception of inventors and innovators, emphasisng that they can be anyone in the room, planting the seed that the next big thing might be within us.
A big thank you to our sponsors—Bayleys, Cooperaitken, Mediaworks, and Fonterra—who played a crucial role in making this event a success.
For those who didn't quite take it home this year, consider taking a fresh look at your story and achievements. The judges are already eager to witness the growth and success that many of these businesses can achieve in the next 12 months. We encourage you to re-enter next year, as the possibilities are endless!
