| How to use the District Plan |

The Matamata-Piako District Plan is in a unique format that allows greater interactivity between the users and the Plan. Council has produced this Plan in Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML), whereas other Council’s have provided their plans in pdf format.
This guide is designed to help you navigate through the Matamata-Piako District Plan.

Table of contents pageThe table of contents page allows you to access any page in the District Plan. Simply search on the policy, objective or rule you would like to look at and click on the title. Click here for a demonstration
District Plan pagesThe District Plan has been designed to provide the user with as much information as possible. Where appropriate each page will provide links to other relevant areas.
Links to definitionsThroughout the Plan, a number of words are ‘highlighted’. Definitions for these words are available by clicking on the underlined word. Click here for a demonstration
Links to other sections of the PlanWhen appropriate, links are provided to direct you to other sections of the Plan that are relevant to the policy, objective or rule you are viewing. Click here for a demonstration
Activity table linksCategories within the activity tables (Part B of the Plan) are linked to a ‘pop up’ box that displays information and all the rules for that activity. Click on the activity status link to view the ‘pop up’ box. Within the ‘pop up’ box you can access any relevant rule by clicking on the rule number. Click here for a demonstration
Planning mapsPlanning maps are provided in two formats; low resolution and high resolution. An example of a low resolution map is shown below:
You can save copies of these maps to your computer by downloading the pdf files (high resolution files).
Alternatively, a full set of the high resolution planning maps (40 maps in total) are downloadable as a complete package. When you download these the software needed to view the maps is also included. The size of the download is 7.2mb.
Once you have downloaded the maps, open the ‘zipped’ file and the following will be displayed:
When you click on the ‘Planning_Maps.exe’ file the following is displayed:
Click on ‘RUN’. A list of the high resolution planning maps will now be displayed. Click on the map you want to view.
![]() When you have accessed a map, some navigational tools will appear at the top of the page - see below: ![]() Note: All planning maps are scaled for printing at A3 size. Any deviation from this will produce inaccurate scaling of the maps.
Development Concept PlansThe Development Concept and Matamata Airport Protection Plans are only available as high resolution maps. To access, follow the same process as downloading the planning maps. All Development Concept and Matamata Airport Protection Plans are scaled to A3.
