Code of Conduct

The Matamata-Piako District Council Code of Conduct sets out the values, understandings and expectations agreed on by the Mayor and Councillors about how they will conduct themselves while acting as Elected Members of the Matamata-Piako District Council.


Consolidated Bylaw 2008

Bylaws are local legislation enforceable by the Council staff, and other nominated agencies. In 2008 most of Council’s Bylaws were reviewed and have been combined to form the Consolidated Bylaw.

Consultation Policy

Consultation raises community awareness of issues and the activities the Council is involved in and strengthens the relationships between the Council, the community and other community focused agencies. Council has adopted a consultation policy for community consultation.

 

Policy on Dogs

Matamata-Piako District Council has identified five objectives for dog control in the Matamata-Piako District and developed policies to help achieve them.

 

Liquor Ban

Council has adopted a liquor ban through and amendment to Schedule Four of the Public Safety Bylaw. Council has worked with the NZ Police and Waikato District Health Board on this matter and believes it will improve the safety of the general public in the district. A 24 hour, seven day a week liquor ban is now in force within the 50km speed zones of Matamata, Morrinsville, Te Aroha and Waharoa.

 

Earthquake-Prone, Dangerous and Unsanitary Building Policy 2006

This policy exists to ensure that earthquake-prone, dangerous and insanitary buildings meet the requirements and intent of the Building Act 2004 and ensure that buildings in Matamata-Piako District do not compromise people’s health and safety.

 

Fees and Charges

This document outlines all of Council's Fees and Charges. These fees and charges are applicable from 1 July 2010 and are inclusive of GST (except where otherwise specified). If the rate of GST changes the Fees and Charges will be amended accordingly.

 

Gambling Venue Policy

This policy outlines Council’s responsibility and role in dealing with gambling venues within the Matamata-Piako District. Note that Council also has a TAB Board Venue Policy (see below)

This statement is a collection of information about how Council engages with the community, how decisions are made, and how citizens can influence those processes

 

Liquor Licensing Policy

This policy outlines Council’s responsibilities as the District Licensing Agency for the Matamata-Piako District.

 

TAB Board Venue Policy

This policy outlines Council’s responsibility and role in dealing with TAB Board venues within the Matamata-Piako District. Note that Council also has a Gambling Venue Policy (see above)

 

Trade Waste Bylaw

This Bylaw is a legislative tool for fair and effective management of trade waste entering the Matamata-Piako District Council Sewerage System.
