The Local Government Act sets out certain consultation principles and a procedure that local authorities must follow when making certain decisions. It raises community awareness of issues and the activities the Council is involved in, as well as strengthens the relationships between the Council, the community and other community focused agencies. Council has adopted a consultation policy for community consultation whereby it is proposed to develop guidelines in conjunction with the policy.
