3.7 Traffic Prohibitions


3.7.1 Determination of Categories of Motor Vehicles

The Council may from time to time by resolution publicly notified, and subject to clause 3.3, determine the application and extent of the prohibitions and restrictions contained in clauses 3.7.2 and 3.7.3.

 

3.7.2 Restriction on Driving on Certain Roads

No person shall drive or permit to be driven any class of motor vehicle that is prohibited on specified roads during restricted hours, as set out in Schedule 14A of this Bylaw, except for the purpose of loading or unloading goods or passengers at any property whose access is by way of the road or roads.

 

3.7.3 Restriction on Parking of Motor Vehicles

No person shall park or allow to be parked any class of vehicle that is prohibited on specified roads, as set out in Schedule 14B of this Bylaw, except for the purpose of loading or unloading goods or passengers at any property whose access is by way of the road or roads.

 

3.7.4

The prohibitions set out in clause 3.7 shall not apply to:

  1. a network utility operator or its authorised agent or contractor engaged in the provision of, or maintenance of a network utility operation. (The expression “network utility operator” has the same meaning given to it by Section 166 of the Resource Management Act 1991); or
  2. an emergency vehicle used at the time to save or protect life or health, or prevent injury or serious damage to property; or
  3. medical practitioners such as doctors, district nurses and midwives who are attending an emergency; or
  4. a vehicle used in an official capacity at the time by a law enforcement agency; or
  5. any vehicle that has permission from Council.

 

3.7.5

The Council may from time to time amend Schedule 14A & B of this Bylaw by resolution publicly notified.
