Hauraki Rail Trail route finalised

HaurakiRailTrail SecE TeAroha Matamata v1s

Council has finalised the route for the Te Aroha to Matamata cycleway, ensuring it meets the Grade 1 standard of the rest of the Hauraki Rail Trail. This means it is suitable for all levels of cyclists.

The route will follow the Kaimais from Te Aroha, along the scenic Manawaru Rd and Tower Rd, reaching the east end of Broadway in Matamata. Side routes are planned to the Waiorongomai Valley and Wairere Falls.

What happens next? We are working with the Hauraki Rail Trail Charitable Trust on gaining additional project funding from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment and the NZ Transport Agency. Construction is expected to begin once this funding is secured.
