Are you desperately trying to get on with your creative project but hindered by lack of money?
The arts & cultural funding scheme administered by Council is called Creative Communities New Zealand (CCNZ), and its money comes from the national arts body, Creative New Zealand.
You can apply for grants over $500 from CCNZ through Council twice yearly. The closing dates for applications are the last working days of March and September.
Application forms are available from your local Council office. Your application is assessed by a committee including representatives of Council, Arts Councils, Community and Iwi. You can apply for funds from $500 upward. You will be informed whether or not your application was successful within six weeks of the closing date.
From the total CCNZS fund pool 25% is allocated to Piako Community Arts Council and 25% to Matamata Community Arts Councils (presently this is $5670.00 annually for each) to fund projects that require less than $500 in funds. So, if you want to apply only for small amounts of CCNZS funding - that is less than $500 – you can send your application directly to the appropriate Community Arts Council and you don’t have to plan half a year in advance. The under $500 grants are considered monthly.
The same conditions apply as are outlined above and you use the same application form. There is a separate application form for Under & Over $500. For projects that take place in the Matamata area, your application should be sent to the Matamata Community Arts Council, PO Box 14, Matamata 3440. For those that take place in the Te Aroha and Morrinsville areas, send your application to the Piako Community Arts Council, PO Box 266, Te Aroha 3342.
Did you know…Fundview is a national funding information database where you can find which other funding organisations may financially support your project. You can access this database at your local library. |
