Note: Fees will change on 1 July, 2009

 

Matamata-Piako District Council is designated as the District Licensing Agency for the purposes of the Sale of Liquor Act. Under this Act, they can issue:

 

On Licences - $776.00

Enables you to sell alcohol to be consumed on the premises, e.g. pubs, bars, cafes, hotels etc

 

Off Licences - $776.00

Enables businesses to sell alcohol to be consumed off the premises e.g. liquor stores, supermarkets, gift baskets etc

 

Club Licences - $776.00

Enables clubs to sell alcohol on the premises only to members, guests of members, and members of clubs with reciprocal visiting rights.

 

Special Licence - $63.00

Enables organizers to sell or supply alcohol on a specified premises the duration of a specific event or occasion

 

Managers Certificate - $132.00

A certified manager must be on duty at all times when liquor is being sold or supplied to the public. If the certified manager is ill, absent, dismissed or has resigned, a licensee can formally appoint a temporary or acting manager.

 

Temporary Authority - $132.00

Enables a new business owner to operate the business until their own licence has been approved.

 

BYO Endorsement - $132.00

Allows businesses to let patrons bring and consume their own alcohol on the premises.

 

Caterers Endorsement - $132.00

Allows caterers to provide alcohol as part of their catering services.

Applications for liquor licences must be made online or on official forms, which are available from each Council office.

Please note: with new On, Off and Club licences there is a building fee of $205 and resource management fee of $140 to be paid at the time of an application.
