Each Refuse Rated Property is issued with a green Matamata-Piako recycling bin, which should be placed on the kerb beside your rubbish bag by 7.30am. Recycling is picked up on the same day as your refuse bag.
What should I do if things go wrong?If you have a problem with your collection or if you wish to know more just phone your local council office or 0800 746 467.
Can I get extra bags?If you are a refuse rated property, then your rates pay for supply, collection, transport and disposal of 52 bags per year. If you require more bags, you can purchase them from your local Council Office at a cost of $3.50 each.
What happens when I move house?If you are moving house or flat, you must leave the rubbish bags and recycling bin supplied to that property for the next owners or tenants.
How do I get my rubbish bags?Ratepayers are sent a voucher during June that entitles them to a supply of 52 bags. The ratepayer can then collect their allocation from any one of the three district Council offices in Te Aroha, Matamata and Morrinsville.
My recycling bin is missing - can I get a new one?Each property is entitled to two free recycling bins - one initial bin, and one replacement bin if your bin gets lost or stolen. Any further bins can be purchased from your Council office for $15.
