Rubbish & Recycling Print E-mail

Matamata-Piako District Council has a weekly rubbish and recycling collection service for about 8000 households and businesses in the district. If you are unsure whether the collection includes your property phone Customer Services on 0800 746 467.

 

Properties that are rated for refuse will receive a voucher with their rates notice once a year entitling them to 52 rubbish bags, which can be collected from the Council office. Further rubbish bags can be purchased from Council offices for $3.50 each.

Monday Matamata (town side of railway tracks)
Tuesday Matamata (Peria Rd side of railway tracks) Waharoa, Kutia, Walton
Wednesday Te Aroha
Thursday Morrinsville (CBD - Canada St to Anderson St, Hamilton side of Studholme St and odd numbers on Studholme St), Waihou, Waitoa, Mangateparu, Tahuna
Friday Morrinsville (Te Aroha side of Studholme St and even numbers of Studholme St)

Note: Check the public notices section of your local paper when a public holiday occurs on a collection day or call Customer Service on 0800 746 467.

 

To help with the rubbish collection and ensure your rubbish is picked up, please:

  • Place bags on kerbside by 7.30am on your collection day, ensuring that bags can be easily seen from the road
  • Make sure you use only offical Matamata-Piako District Council rubbish bags (20kg max per bag)
  • Make sure your rubbish bag is tied up at the top
  • Wrap any broken glass or sharp objects
  • Take steps to reduce your rubbish and help the environment.
