3.1 Purpose
The Council is a body corporate with perpetual succession. It has full capacity to carry on or undertake any activity provided that it is not inconsistent with the Local Government Act 2002 or any other Act of Parliament. Council’s purpose is:
- To enable democratic local decision making and action by, and on behalf of its communities;
- To meet the current and future needs of communities for good-quality local infrastructure, local public services, and performance of regulatory functions in a way that is most cost-effective for households and businesses.
