Matamata Aerodrome

The Matamata Aerodrome camping facilities are currently closed to the public until further notice. We apologise for any inconvenience. Aviation/Aerodrome bookings will continue as normal. 

Matamata Aerodrome is an small regional airport that is situated on Matamata Piako District council owned property.  It is adjacent to Waharoa township – just outside of Matamata. It’s central location makes it easily accessible from Tauranga, Hamilton, Rotorua and Auckland.

A variety of user groups operate from the Aerodrome including;

Waharoa (Matamata) Aerodrome management plan review

We have started reviewing the management plan for the Waharoa (Matamata) Aerodrome. 

The suggestion phase of the review has now closed. Twenty-three suggestions have been recieved and are helping us form the Draft Waharoa (Matamata) Aerodrome Management Plan.
