Volunteers to be recognised for community service
Matamata-Piako District Council is calling for volunteers — but not for the usual reasons!
They are always the first to put their hands up when something needs doing in the community and often providing hours of labour at a time. So in honour of these unsung heroes of the community the council is hosting a volunteers’ morning tea next month to recognise their service.
Individuals, or up to two volunteers representing any community organisation, are being invited to register for the morning tea, which will be held at Silver Fern Events Centre on Thursday, 20 June.
The morning tea is a popular annual fixture in the Council calendar, where volunteers are thanked for their work by Mayor Jan Barnes, awarded certificates of recognition, and treated to entertainment and high tea-style refreshments.
Community organisations wishing to register their representatives can use the online registration form.
