After a great turnout from Matamata-Piako residents, voting for the local elections 2025 has now closed. Voting ran from 9 September to 11 October 2025, closing at 12pm sharp.

Voting was consistently higher than 2022 throughout the voting period, with the latest data as follows:

Results will be released when available, with the expected timeline as follows:

11 October - Progress result

  • Not all ordinary votes have been counted yet.
  • Progress result is expected to be available on Saturday 11 October from 2pm, as reconciliations and quality assurance checks are completed.
  • Results could change. 

12 October - Preliminary result

  • These will be announced later on Sunday 12 October, after the last ordinary voting papers have been received and processed. Please note that this result may be delayed due to the high number of votes received on the final day.
  • All ordinary voting papers have been received and counted, but not all special votes.
  • Results could still change. 

16 October - Official result  

  • All ordinary and special votes have been counted.
  • This will be released by Thursday 16 October, once special voting processes have been completed.
  • Results are final.
