Community Garden of Remembrance For burials of stillborn children
Children's section For burials of children aged up to 16
RSA Section For burials of Returned Servicemen, organised through RSA. Identified by a plaque
Headstone, full plot, single berm Full size plot, identified by a headstone
Lawn Cemetery Plaque Full size plot, identified by a plaque
Recumbent Desk Full size plot, identified by a plaque on a raised concrete slab

 

Ashes interment options include:

 

Ashes Wall Ashes are sealed in a memorial wall and identified by a plaque
Ashes Plot Ashes are buried in cemetery plot, identified by a headstone

 

Up to four lots of ashes may also be added to a previous burial plot

 

Memorial options:

 

Community Garden of Remembrance The Community Garden of Remembrance  at Piako Lawn Cemetery has been developed to provide a peaceful area for families who have endured the grief of losing a child to come together and reflect, and honour the memory of their child.

 

There are three memorial options for this area

  1. Installation of a remembrance plaque
  2. Burial of a stillborn child
  3. Burial of a stillborn child and installation of a remembrance plaque.

 

Hours of Operation - Interments:

 

Summer (From 1 October to 31 March)

Monday – Friday: 10am – 4pm:

Saturday: 10am – 3pm:

 

Rest of The Year (From 1 April – 30 September)

Monday - Friday: 10am – 3pm

Saturday: 10am – 3pm

 

Burials arranged later than 3pm in winter may mean the contractor is backfilling the grave in the dark, this is an unsafe practice and Council does not permit it.

 

Interments on Sundays and Public Holidays (excluding ANZAC Day) are permitted between 10am and 1pm, provided the timing is negotiated and approved

by the Contractor.

 

Interments on ANZAC Day are permitted between 1pm – 3pm provided the timing is negotiated and approved by the Contractor.
