Domain House gets a new lease of life

Domain House in the Te Aroha Domain has undergone a make-over of its own as it prepares to reopen as the beauty and massage arm of the Te Aroha Mineral Spas.  Constructed in 1908, the Edwardian landmark has been re-piled, had air conditioning installed and the veranda repaired, as well as some love and attention inside ahead of opening up next month (opening date still to be confirmed).

Tourism Manager Aimee Davies, who has managed the Te Aroha Mineral Spas for almost a decade, said the demand for the mineral spas and the beauty services has far outstripped supply for years, so it makes perfect sense to restore and revitalise the former Tea House, popular with spa seekers in the early 1900s.

Aimee said that “despite fluctuating COVID-19 levels, there has continued to be demand for both spas and massage and beauty treatments, and we only expect that to continue as kiwis start planning to get out and explore New Zealand this Summer.”

You can follow Te Aroha Mineral Spas on Facebook and Instagram for updates on the opening of the new building.Investigations are also continuing for the new day spa facility for Te Aroha, approved in the 2021-2031 Long Term Plan - you can follow progress on this project at mpdc.govt.nz.
