Full description of idea:

A 3 Movie theatre (80 - 100 seats per hall) complex allowing one to fitted out for live performance and be used for both Musical Theatre and Drama Club shows as and when they are. They could do all their rehearsals in their own halls up to one week prior to opening night. One week of final rehearsals in the theatre and of course their 7 - 10 day seasons
Maybe live shows/acts/bands could come to Matamata, plus of course could be used for conference or seminars etc.

How this idea will benefit the community:

We as a town have very little to offer our youngsters, especially past Playground age. A theatre complex would also encourage tourists (both domestic and international) more reason to stay in town and thus using more of the local business's Benefiting all the community. Could maybe have one of the theatres playing Lord of the rings and the Hobbit sequels continuously ?
When tourists arrive, there are plenty of cafe's, restaurants, but not much for those that don't want the restaurant/bar venues. What better family activity than all going to a movie together.
Obviously this wont be a Council project, but maybe this is a vehicle to encourage entrepreneurs or local benefactors to put their cash, time and effort.
Mind you - why not be a council facility - has it been done before ? I dont know, but it doesnt mean it couldnt be given some thought.
