4    Identification of Opportunities and Constraints

Careful neighbourhood context and site analysis can directly benefit future residents through better quality outcomes.


It is important to identify the opportunities and any likely constraints early in the development process. Developers will have an objective for every subdivision scheme. Involving Council staff early in the process will help identify and refine the rationale, and help to clarify the objectives of the subdivision, including how good urban design outcomes can be achieved. This will help avoid misunderstandings and differences later in the application process.
