(April 9th to May 5th) "A Visual history of Te Aroha’s past, and country towns, as Signage"’. Community Gallery Exhibition opening - 6-7:30pm April 8th, 2015 The project was inspired by seeing the hand painted signs on old architecture and machinery in and around Te Aroha, which struck Elizabeth as excellent material for a series of works. Many of the buildings are disused, and are expected to be pulled down at some stage. The group of paintings and studies on which Elizabeth is working seek to capture the essence of a by gone art form and the world in which hand lettering flourished. It is a kind of visual history, but one in which colour, form and abstraction play a vital part.

Location Wallace Gallery, Morrinsville
