Pop up pump track coming our way

Background
Thanks to Waka Kotahi Transport Choices funding, we've secured a pop-up pump track to help make our parks and open spaces more inviting, interesting and active places for our communities.

You've let us know scootering and biking are popular activities for our young people and some would love to see a public pump track in our district. We agree pump tracks are a great way to enjoy these activities, get fit and be social and although we don't have firm plans or funding to install a permanent pump track anywhere yet, we have been able to source this fantastic alternative. We look forward to setting this track up at Morrinsville Recreation Ground, so it's ready to go this summer!

What is it?
The pop up pump track is a modular system that offers the ideal riding track for bikes, scooters, skateboards and blades, with a combination of humps and berms for all riding abilities.

It’s 65 metres long, with a fibre-glass non-slip riding surface that can be configured into different layouts. Check out the video above from Hastings District Council to see a similar pump track in action.

Where will it be set up?
Get ready to roll, the pump track is coming to Anderson Park in Morrinsville! We're setting the pump track up at Morrinsville Recreation Ground to celebrate the opening of another Transport Choices project, the Morrinsville Recreation Ground perimeter path. The new 950m long, 3m wide concrete path will be suitable for people to walk, bike or scoot to Morrinsville Rec. The path will better connect Morrinsville Rec to the town centre and have at least two access points to the Rec grounds; at Anderson Park playground and the fields by the cricket nets.  Adding a pump track to Morrinsville Recreation Ground was a popular idea we received during our Reimagine Morrinsville Rec consultation last year. Grab your scooter and join us this Summer!
