Te Rā o Waitangi/Waitangi Day 2023 - event CANCELLED

Image

CANCELLED due to weather

It is with regret that we've had to make the call to cancel Te Rā o Waitangi/Waitangi Day Whānau Picnic and Movie night that was planned for 3 February. While the extreme weather experienced this week may be behind us, more rain is forecast for Friday 3 February. The open air nature of the event means the bad weather would make it an unpleasant experience for anyone willing to brave the conditions.

Thanks to all those who were going to make this a great community event, and a special mention of our sponsors - Inghams, Fonterra and Countdown Te Aroha for their fantastic support.

While the event won't go ahead, we're still planning to celebrate Waitangi Day by sharing a series of videos about Te Tiriti on Monday 6 Feb through the Council Facebook page.
