Full description of idea:

Turn Thames Street, from Canada Street to Studholme Street into a traffic free plaza. Angel parking on Moorhouse, Canada and Studholme Street.

How this idea will benefit the community:

Creating a community area, where shoppers can browse, cafe’s implement more space between the tables, and be able to come away from the windows a bit. People with mobility issues will have places to sit and rest, and cross from one side to the other without worrying about traffic. Move the farmers market into the plaza... art exhibition...festival days...shops can open up their wares, and in short, encourage people to stop and enjoy being in Morrinsville. Bring the town into the 21st century, not just somewhere to bypass. E.g. Cuba Street in Wellington, Garden Place, Hamilton, New Regent Street, Christchurch.
