Full description of idea:
A simple plan to improve our town would involve creating a basic concrete pathway network, at least 3 metre wide for pedestrians, cyclists and mobility scooters to "share with care". Extending from the Opal Hot springs to the cemetery, with a basic network circling the town and feeding into the town centre and services.
St Kilda, Cambridge has such a network, which links the residential areas to the schools. This town is also serviced with a 3 metre wide concrete pathway which extends from the Rowing club at Karapiro through the Cambridge township to the Velodrome.People of all ages use these paths.
Retirees would appreciate such a network as an alternative to car use. In the 1950s Broadway had separate vehicle, cycle and pathways.
During the current growth spurt, I hope our town planners have had, and will have, the vision to plan a future which is not solely or basically reliant on cars.
