Renewing a registration

Renewing a registration under the Food Act 2014

Registration under the Food Act 2014 can only be renewed if both the renewal fee and application are submitted prior to the registration's expiry date. Failure to submit these before the expiry will result in the registration lapsing, requiring a new application to be completed.

To ensure any changes to your scope of services are captured, the Scope of Services document must be completed as part of the renewal process.

Registration frequency

For businesses operating under a template Food Control Plan, registration must be renewed annually on the registration expiry anniversary. Conversely, businesses operating under a National Programme need to renew their registration every two years.

Transfer of registration under the Food Act 2014

Prior to purchasing an existing food business registered under the Food Act 2014, it is essential to contact the council and consult with a licensing officer.

Food Control Plans and National Programmes are non-transferrable. Therefore, when a new owner assumes control of an existing food business, they must apply for a new Food Control Plan or National Programme according to the businesses scope.

Surrendering a Food Business License

If your business has been sold or ceased operating and you wish to surrender your registration, you must notify the council.
