Camping grounds

To obtain a Certificate of Registration, campground must be registered and inspected by and Environmental Health Officer in accordance with the Health (Registration of Premises) Regulations 1966 Act. Compliance with the Camping Grounds Regulations 1985 Act is also required prior to approval of registration. 

Application for registration of a new premises

1. Contact the Matamata-Piako District Council to discuss your requiremnets with an Environmental Health Officer. 

2. The Environmental Health Officer will conduct an inspection of your premises before registration. 

3. Once the premises meet regulatory standards, you may proceed to apply for registration. 

Renewing your Registration

Registrations must be renewed annually by 30 June. Renewal notices are sent out in May each year. The renewal form must be completed with any updated information, signed, and submitted along with the applicable fee. Following receipt of the renewal form, payment, and a subsequent inspection by the Environmental Health Officer, the Certificate of Registration will be issued.

Transferring an existing premises

If you assume ownership of a currently registered premises, you must complete an application for registration and pay the change of occupier fee. This should be done promptly after taking over the premises.
