For a crossing at Founders Park entrance to the Town side of Matamata

we could put a crossing over Meura St for kids going to Aspire and KidSoul from the Domain side.

I wonder...

-37.812636,175.774629

if council could put bike lock stands outside Aspire for kids to bike to this amazing community orientated facility.

I wish...

points 7 and 11 were connected with a footpath/berm option to improve safety and connectivity along the length of Burwood Rd

I wonder...

if a shared footpath/berm could be created along Burwood Rd and along the southern side of Tamihana St up to Centennial Dr.

Far better idea to promote cycle route to Centennial Drive, Tom Grant Drive and Tower Road walk way. These are already in place no as much cost involved and much safer.

I wish you could put some barriers next to the new bumps on Centennial Drive to stop lazy drivers going onto the grass instead.

I wonder...

I wonder whether you’ll bow to the pressure of the numpties who graffitied the Tamihana crossing, or stay strong and leave it there.

I wish...

I wonder...

If you know that a number of cyclists have nearly been collected on the ramp in Tamihana Street with a couple of highly aggressiveverbal exchanges. It appears cyclists believe this is some sort of right of way they have one incident I witnessed the cyvlidt screamed at the driver this is a pedestrian crossing even if it were the cyclist in law needs to give way to the road traffic unless they dismount and walk across. Perhaps signage telling cyclists they need to give way might be approprate. Certainly the ramp is inappropritely placed and invites vandalism such as the graffiti which has been on it over the weekend.

I wish...

We could have an island crossing on Tower Road, connecting the Rail Trail.

I wonder...

If press button stop lights could be installed on Broadway crossing points.

I wish...

Cars were banned from Centenniel Drive. No need for cars to use this walkway.

I wonder...

If a crossing could connect both sides of the Rail Trail on Tower Road? A central island too.

I really wish there was one on the other end of Firth Street - near Short Street perhaps. So many adults/kids walk/ ride & mobility scooter from Peria Road but there is no safe crossing that end of town for commuters. You have a huge retirement home subdivision planned 102 Peria Road and there are 2 existing Parkside Villas & Country Lodge

Pedestrian crossings outside every school which should be a no brainer
Centennial drive becomes walking only

I wonder...

More pedestrian connections across firth street are desperately needed especially around the Broadway roundabout and Burwood road, station road end as these are quite dangerous the speed limited also needs to be lowered on Firth street from 70 to 50 from station road back to outside the city limits

The people who came up with the idea of putting the ramp in Tamihana Street could have the same sort of ramp put outside their houses and experience the broken sleep of our household. This is turning into a mental health issue. Were here first give us our quite neighbourhood back.

I wonder...

Who the inconsiderate misanthrope is that decided it was a good idea to put a barrier of the type across Tamihana Street formerly a predominantly quiet area which has now become a site of unwanted noise pollution. This is a road used by Trucks [many articulated], tractors, commercial vehicles pulling trailers, motor bikes and cars as an alternative route to moving through town using Broadway. Usually they are unnoticed however this piece of engineering idiocy now means that they have to brake [often noisily and in the case of large trucks using their air brakes] and then they accelerate usually in such a way as to gain speed as quickly as possible which is often noisy. It has not stopped the hoons who treat it as a challenge to speed up to and cross in a low level flying maneuver, I believe as a raised finger to whoever put the ramp there, and then they plant boot. This is a case of if "it ain't broke don't fix it". The status quo, as it was, saw the occasional hoon using Tamihana Street but in the scheme of things they were few and far between. I think they have now found a new toy, and as they did in The Drive, they will try and burn it out rubber on rubber.

I wish this Council would stop wasting monies on this trivial issue, as every time you drive up the streets of Matamata you never see or experience anyone utilising this service. It appears to be catering for an absolute minority of interested parties, most likely from Longlands

I wonder...

I wonder if the council could really priortise looking after the gardens on the berms around Matamata, rather than inventing new ways of spending ratepayer monies.

I wish they would put in some more safe crossings. The new one in Rawhiti is great, but we need more, particularly for Firth Street. This is quite dangerous on this very busy road with a lot of parked vehicle obscuring vision. This should be a priority as there are a lot of elderly folks that come from that direction into town.

I wish they would put some white or yellow marking on the black raised mats going across the roads at the edges connecting Centennial Drive. My elderly friend is visually impaired and its not easy to see them.

I wonder...

I wonder if something similar is planned for Tom Grant Drive. Was walking through there this afternoon, again with my elderly friend, and two cars came through at quite a fast pace.

I wish...

I wonder...

If you considered how steep the ramp is for push chairs and scooters for transitioning off the, hopefully temporary, ramp back onto Centennial drive. Its very difficult to get my stroller up and down when fully loaded with my littlies. I can only imagine how difficult it would be for wheel chairs or motorized scooters.

There were zebra crossings on tamihana and another speed bump like what’s been installed. That new speed bump is AMAZING and I want more all over the place to slow drivers down. The other is Meura Street with all the trees. It’s so hard for kids to cross that road.

I wonder...

If we could have more safe crossing pedestrian islands on arterial roads (like burwood road and firth street). So have a little spot where pedestrians can cross one lane, and wait safely in the middle to cross the second lane. Pedestrians struggle at the moment.

I like the idea of speed bumps installed in centennial and tom grant drive to slow down traffic along with better lighting at night.

I wonder...

I would like the speed bump removed or changed to be flatter in Tamihana street - if kept need signage and road markings

I wish...

We had a crossing over the train tracks up the end of Burwood and firth.

I wonder...

How many new houses have gone in and how many of those families cross that road frequently.

I wonder...

Just driven down Tamihana street in matamata I slowed down for the speed hump there were 6 people walking out from the drive to cross the road they walked straight out in front of me thinking this mark gives them the right of way. This road marking is a accident about to happen. Disagree with the whole project

The speed bump on tamihana street is totally unnecessary I was taught if you are about to cross a street you look both ways surely this still applies today, and I wonder are cyclists now going to pay road user charges to pay for these changes or will that still be up to those driving cars ? If the cyclists / walkers of today can't manage to cross a road safely then perhaps they should refrain from using a bike / walk way, or if we must baby them then I prefer the painted speed bumps.

I wish the speed hump (translated farts hoomper in Norwegian - useless fun fact) was easier to see upon approach, maybe some reflector lights or warning signs
