Hey Morrinsville! We're kicking off an exciting new project in August to get your town centre buzzing.

Pride of Place is about revitalising your town centre to create a vibrant, social place where people feel a sense of belonging.

It's about placemaking - where we turn ordinary spaces into great places. Places that act as a magnet for people to stay longer and keep coming back.

We want to find out what YOU think will make your town centre buzz and we’re about to hit the streets - and connect online - to listen to what’s important to you. After all, you’re the experts on the future of your town centre!

There’s already some great stuff happening and we really want to hear what new ideas you have that could make the town centre more vibrant.

Let’s kōrero! Let’s catch up soon!

How Inclusive the people in the town are thinking of bright and new ideas for our town such as the cows, cafes and bakerys , you can go up and talk to anyone for help and they will most likey talk to you for whatever you need they listen to your ideas etc. My favourite thing about the town is the bright colours and the friendly people.

Friendly people. Small town

Clubs
schools
playgrounds ( but can we see more playgrounds for older kids even the one in the intermediate isn't great)

I love all the cows and would like to see schools paint cows too.
The Food
Schools
Clubs
Playgrounds, but i would love to see playgrounds for older kids other than the littler kids.

I love the people they are very kind and welcoming everywhere and there is so much to do I would love it for there to be more shows in town centre based round the 70s and 80s for local bands to come and play there and also for people to bring their cool cars into town and show them off and I love the Skate park and the dairys - Charlie Atkinson M.I.S

I love the cows and the fun playgrounds while also eating the delicious mince&cheese pies from wagon wheel and the beautiful foot long sub from subway.

I love the cows and think we should add more around the town.

The colours, cows and how there are nice people in every cafe. SO VOTE FOR ME >:)

I love how small it is. I also like the bush and cow walks. My favorite is the big cow.

I love that it’s quiet, easy to get around, everything’s in walking distance, that we don’t have mcds or kfc, it’s close to cities and beaches if we want to go to them and it’s great to come home again without the hustle and bustle, no traffic lights or long cues. I love Morrinsville the way it is.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD PEOPLE

The cool squash and netball club

GOOD PEOPLE

GOOD PEOPLE

MIS is good ,good people

The cows. At MIS we are learning about diversity and the cows have very diverse and cool colours

There are lots of shops

I love to cows the school's and the cafes

we have good clubs and cool shops and i love the pools

Good coffee, lots of parking, great fish and chips, and honestly I love the fact there are no major fast food chains, which keeps the local businesses thriving.

It's relatively clean with everything handy needed for day to day living and it is gaining popularity because of its proximity to Hamilton, Tauranga and the Coromandel. Friendly locals. Heaps of clubs and interest groups.

I love you e new river trial. I run 4 times a week and it’s an extraordinary extension to the existing. There is space for more though. Wilton town through Lockerbie park and centennial park etc if we were able to like up all the little extra park trails we to a painted strip on the footpath to follow this would be so neat. Different colour lines could represent different km loops. As a college PE teacher too this would be an awesome resource for local school out walking and running in the community. Also adding roagaine or orienteering checkpoints with an app guide would be neat.
Also a running/walking/biking painted line track around all the cows is something I would definitely do.

Thanks.

Hey absolutely loving the new river trail as a local runner I would also love to see all the little trails like Lockerbie reserve, centennial walkway etc all linked together with a thin painted line on the footpath. They are difficult to navigate from one to the other in a circuit, even though I do them often. Different coloured painted lines could even represent different km loops. As a PE teacher at the local college this would also be a fantastic resource. Even adding permanent rogaine or orienteering courses where you can use an app to follow.

Yes please.

Morrinsville skate Club. We are more than 40 people in the club and we skate at the Morrinsville event centre. It will be great to have a skate rink in Morrinsville or simply have more equipment (like music and cabinets) at the Morrinsville Rec.
At the moment we are supplying pads and skates for people who doesn’t have and buying storage to get our stuff at the Rec.
I believe a good sound system and/or big monitor will be awesome to have at the Rec and all the community can use it.

What is Pride of Place?

The Pride of Place project is about teaming up with our communities to find out what new ideas would make the town centre more vibrant. After we've gathered your ideas we'll prioritise them with the help of the town's future thinkers – a team of local experts from diverse backgrounds. That'll give us a plan so we know the sorts of placemaking initiatives we should be supporting.

We'll learn by doing - we’ll work with the community to help bring those ideas to life by trying out new or different ideas to see what's possible - and encourage communities to think differently about how the town centre spaces could be used.

We want to test ideas because experimenting is how we'll learn what works - and what doesn't. It'll help us find the winning formula for Morrinsville. The ideas we test will be temporary, and help build momentum towards longer term change and investment in the town centre.

Of course community spaces need good roads, parking and rubbish bins. But they also need to be safe. And interesting. And welcoming. Because really great community places are where people gather and connect.

What you'd already told us...

In the last couple of years we’ve asked for feedback on several projects in Morrinsville, like Revitalising Morrinsville's main street, Tell Tom (Thomas Park playground), reimagining Morrinsville Rec, Business Bubble Zone seating, Canada St parking trial, our Long Term Plan and more.

We appreciate the people who take the time to give us feedback, and we want you to know, all of that feedback is also being used as part of this project.
