A helicopter will be delivering materials to the Tui Domain Track on 3 March 2026. The track will be closed during this period to ensure safety for the public and the working team. We will be transporting materials up to a remote location to enable us to undertake track renewals.

Following the storms on 21-22 January 2026, we haven't been able to assess all of the tracks yet so please be extremely cautious and check this update on what to expect and a few tips to help keep you safe.

Centennial Drive

Centennial Drive

Centennial Drive is a stunning botanical park that winds its way through the Matamata town centre. The drive was formed in the early 1900's when the settlement of Matamata was divided into sections, leaving a 40 metre wide plantation reserve - over time this reserve was planted and developed into Centennial Drive. The drive is now managed and maintained by a committee of volunteers with contributions from Council.

The drive is a stunning short walk, with lots of great spots to stop and picnic, or simply wander through and admire the range of features including gardens, a water feature and a variety of trees from all around the world. Note that as Centennial Drive is a park, there is no formed track or walking path - people generally walk along the road or grass.

Centennial Drive can be accessed either from Broadway or Tainui Street,
