Morrinsville water update Thursday 1 December, 5.30pm
Both reservoirs are now over half full. The small reservoir at the water treatment plant is 83.3% full, and the large one (8000m3) at Mount Misery is 59.8% full. Level 4 restrictions remain in place to ensure we can meet demand as the reservoir recovers.
Tomorrow from 9am – 2pm our team will be flushing pipes in specific areas around Morrinsville. This is a necessary part of removing air and the remaining low chlorine water from the network.
You may notice our team flushing water from hydrants, some workers may also need to enter your property to gather a sample from an outside tap. During this process you may experience low pressure and/or discoloured water. Water may appear ‘milky’ due to a build up of air bubbles - if you do experience discoloured water please turn on an outside tap for 5 minutes to flush your system.
We are continuing to monitor the water network and while there is no evidence of contamination we are still advising residents to boil their tap water as a precaution, following low chlorine levels at some of our water testing sites around Morrinsville.
Tanker water is available and doesn't need to be boiled - as long as your container is clean. See tanker information below.
Level 4 restrictions remain in place.
