Trash Talk - the future of rubbish and recycling in the district
Our rubbish and recycling collection contract comes to an end in 2023. We need to review this system to ensure we’re providing rubbish and recycling services that will encourage people to actively reduce the amount of waste they are producing, recycle correctly, and look at reusing, repurposing and composting
instead of sending more waste to landfill. We know 2023 is a long way away, but there’s a lot of work to do between now and then to prepare for any
changes.
As part of our preparation for the Long Term Plan 2021-31 (LTP) we asked what your thoughts were on Council changing the service in 2023 to wheelie bins for rubbish, an improved recycling service and a food waste collection service. We also asked if you supported a zero waste vision for the district.
