Council is responsible for issuing and renewing On-licences,
Off-licences,Club Licences, Managers Certificates and Special Licences under the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012.

The Gambling Act 2003 required Council's to adopt a Class 4 Gambling Venue and Board Venue Policy for their district.

According to the Food Act 2014,food businesses must operate under a food control plan or one of the three tiers of national programmes, depending on the specific food sector to which the business belongs.

Within the community, there are business premises beyond food establishments that may pose risks to public health. These include camping grounds as well as facilities operated by funeral directors and mortuaries.​

Such premises are required to be registered in accordance with the Health (Registration of Premises) Regulations 1966. They must under go annual registration under the Health Act and are regularly inspected to verify compliance with the relevant legislative standards applicable to each type of business.
