Your new bins are coming

From Monday 10 July the new rubbish and food scrap bins will be delivered around our district. Take them inside when they arrive but don’t use them until services switch over on 5 September.

While we’re delivering new bins we’re also going to make some improvements to your recycling wheelie bin - adding an RFID tag to help us keep track of lost or stolen bins and missed collections as well as a black latch to keep the lid fastened in high winds.

So that we can upgrade your recycling bins (yellow bins) Please put your recycling bin on the kerbside for the RFID tag and black latch to be fitted from

  • Te Aroha (incl. Waitoa and Waihou): Monday 10 July
  • Morrinsville (incl. Tahuna): Wednesday 12 July
  • Matamata (incl. Waharoa and Walton): Monday 17 July

Please note this is a change from previous advertising that said to leave recycling bins out for a whole week. As soon as you notice a black latch has been attached, the recycling bin can come back in.

All the information you need to know about the new kerbside services and community information sessions can be found online at mpdc.nz/residential and also in the new calendar that you’ll find inside your new bins.
