School travel plans surveys due this Friday 22 September

We’re developing plans with some schools across the district, to help make it safer and easier to walk, bike and scoot to school in the future. Thanks to Firth Primary, Matamata Intermediate, David Street School, Te Aroha Primary and Stanley Avenue School for signing up to take part! Families of these schools should've recently received a survey via your usual school channels.

We’re aware many families drive their children to school and are keen to hear what you think are the current issues/concerns and barriers to children getting to school independently, including any hurdles along the way regarding footpaths, crossings, safety concerns, etc. We'd also like your ideas for possible improvements and behavioural changes that would help make these journeys safer in the future. Thanks for taking part – the surveys are due by this Friday 22 September.

Transport Choices
School travel plans is one of seven transport projects across the district from the Waka Kotahi Transport Choices programme. Although there is no budget allocated to making physical improvements at this stage, we are working with interested schools to make a plan so we are ready to take action when funding becomes available. You can see more about Transport Choices and the other funded projects over at mpdc.nz/walkbikeride
