Help inspire the next generation of coders

Every week kids aged 8 - 18 gather at the Matamata and Morrinsville libraries to have a go at fun coding tasks. Along the way they don’t just learn coding but also problemsolving skills. They get a chance to take ownership of their projects and be creative as well as collaborate with others.

A typical Code Club session will see kids come in to the library and get a task assigned for the week - this could be anything from a short game to something like a compliment generator! Tutors will walk around and help out and then there’s time to share projects at the end.

We’re on the lookout for new volunteer tutors - could this be you? It’s a great way to help kids learn key skills that will set them up well in the future. Currently we’re just seeking volunteers for Morrinsville so if you would be willing to make the trip during school terms or if you’d like to put your name down for future openings in Matamata please get in touch.

Having some tech skills is a bonus but if you have a willingness to learn anyone can take it on. If you’re interested please get in touch with our libraries staff at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
