Missing dog trap

Our animal control team have been working with a family in Waharoa. Their dog had bitten a child and they wanted it caught but were unable to secure it themselves.

A trap was set up to capture the dog on private property, with the property owners consent.

Unfortunately the trap was stolen quite soon after being set up and the dog has not yet been captured.

Traps are a safe and effective way to capture roaming dogs and it’s difficult to operate without them. Dogs move around and the chance of them being in the same place when an animal control officer arrives is slim.

We want to capture this dog before it harms someone else. If you have seen the trap please call the Matamata animal control team on 07 881 9050.
