Are you ready for local elections this year?

We've been gearing up and held a candidate briefing session at the start of this week. If you're interested in running for Council this year but couldn't make the session, head to mpdc.nz/elections as a recording of the session should be uploaded soon. We covered off the nomination process, election protocols, and what it's like to be part of Council - everything you need to get started!

We also had a photoshoot with some awesome residents last week who volunteered their time to be part of our 2025 local elections campaign. While we had a captive audience, we asked our champions why voting in local elections is important to them.

They spoke about getting amongst it and building a sense of belonging as well as exercising your democratic right to vote. They discussed the importance of having local voices making decisions, of inclusiveness and hearing different perspectives.

Now is the perfect time to make sure that you are set up to vote by sorting your enrolment online. Just head to vote.nz to enrol or update your details.
