The Government has proposed changes to the Resource Management Act (RMA) that will affect how councils process plan changes. These changes are part of the Resource Management (Consenting and Other System Changes) Amendment Bill, which is expected to become law at the end of August.

While we wait for the final details, we have paused work on Plan Change 61 (National Planning Standards and other changes) and Plan Change 49 (Waharoa). We’ll provide updates once the legislation is confirmed and further guidance is available. We are contacting those who provided feedback during the Plan Change 61 pre-consultation period, to keep them informed.
