How to vote - local elections 2025
Over the past week voting papers have been getting posted out to everyone enrolled to vote in the local elections. Don't panic if you haven't received them yet, they could still take another week to reach your letterbox.
Not sure if you're enrolled?
Go to vote.nz and check online to make sure you're in the system. If not, you still have time to enrol online, and then ask for a special vote at one of the Matamata-Piako libraries or the Te Aroha Council Office, 35 Kenrick St.
You can post your completed papers back until 7 October, or drop them in to one of our handy ballot boxes across the district until midday, Saturday 11 October. See all the voting locations and more here.
Still deciding who to vote for?
You can see all the candidates who are standing here, and this year there are candidate videos to accompany the profile statements. There are also New Zealand Sign Language versions to encourage participation from as many members of our community as possible.
If you want to hear your candidates speak in person, check out the upcoming 'meet the candidate events' to see when they're in your town. These are community-run events, so please contact the organisers if you have any questions.
