TAFISA (the Association For International Sport for All) World Challenge Day is a friendly international competition in Sport for All and physical activity where communities from around the world compete to motivate as many people as possible to be physically active for 15 minutes on a single day – the last Wednesday of May. Communities of similar size in a different parts of the world are paired together to compete. This year the Matamata-Piako District has been challenged by the city of Kitikami in the Waga District of Japan.

The event is a fun day that creates awareness and enthusiasm for living an active lifestyle. World Challenge Day is open to communities of any size. In 2017 more than 50 million people from over 40 different countries participated in the event.

This is the first time that a community in New Zealand has participated in World Challenge Day.

You can find more information about World Challenge Day, including previous results, at the TAFISA website www.tafisa.org.
