Changes to bank payment process

You may have heard all banks in New Zealand will now be processing payments every day of the year, including weekends and public holidays.

So, what does this mean for you? If you have a direct debit payment set up with Council (e.g. for rates, or dog registration fees), you will need to make sure you have enough in your bank account to make the payment, regardless of what day it is. This will ensure you’re on top of your payments, and avoid any fees your bank might add if you don't have the funds available on the day.

Want to pay your rates through direct debit? Visit mpdc.nz/rates for more information.
