From 15 May 2025, Thompson's Track will be closed to all vehicles. This is for the safety of users and to minimise environmental impact over the winter months. The track will reopen to vehicles in late October or early November this year depending on conditions. Throughout the closure, the track will remain available for those not using vehicles, like pedestrians. 

11 June 2025 Horseman's Track - Due to a fallen tree, Horseman's Track is currently closed until it can be safely removed. Signage is in place, and we kindly ask that you avoid the area. We will update this message once the track has reopend.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

5.6 Management and Disposal of Wastes

5.6.1 General

  1. All activities shall provide solid waste storage areas which shall be visually screened when viewed from any adjoining site or public place.
  2. No unauthorised dumping of solid waste materials shall be permitted.

5.6.2 Effluent Disposal Systems

Any effluent disposal system (including disposal onto land by way of spray irrigation) associated with the disposal of non-human waste except those areas shown on a DCP shall comply with the following:

  1. Yards

    10 metres from a road boundary.

    300 metres from a school, marae, hall or public reserve only from spraying which is associated with or from intensive farming or an industrial use.

    300 metres from a residential zone only from spraying which is associated with or from intensive farming or an industrial use.

    150 metres from dwellings

    provided that the required yards shall be reduced in respect of any school, marae, hall, public reserve or other facility where all persons owning and occupying those facilities give written consent to a specific reduced yard.

  2. Access
    See 9.1.2(ix)
  3. No spraying shall occur from a public road or place.

Explanation

The unauthorised dumping of solid waste adversely affects the visual amenity of the area and the health and safety of residents and workers in the vicinity. It is essential that the disposal of such wastes be controlled to mitigate the potential adverse effects of dumping of solid waste.
