From 1 July 2025 we're changing to a fees up front payment system. This means that payment is made at the application stage and when we have granted the application we can issue it to the customer at the same time - speeding up the turnaround time on building consents. Any additional processing time (recoverable on an actual and reasonable basis, as per the Building Act 2004 s281B) and planning/engineering approval charges (if applicable) will be invoiced at the end of processing.

District Plan Maps
The district plan layers can now be viewed using our online GIS system. The complete set of District Plan maps includes maps in four categories: Planning Maps for the District, Development Concept Plans, Matamata Airport Protection Plans and Structure Plans. These maps are available on our district plan.
The district plan maps can be viewed online using our GIS Consumer Portal by selecting the District Plan layer once the GIS portal has loaded. The layer can be changed using the menu on the top right corner of the map as shown in the image below.
